MATISSE Henri Émile [Le Cateau-Cambrésis, 1869 - Nice, 1954], peintre, dessinateur et sculpteur français.
Pièce signée, dédicacée à Erich Chlomovitch. 19 juillet 1939 ; 260 X 335 mm. Reproduction d’un autoportrait de Matisse publié dans une revue dédicacée en bas à droite. Erich Chlomovitch (décédé au camp de Sajmiste en 1942) était un marchand d’art serbe, collectionneur d’art juif. Il fut secrétaire de Vollard et à l’origine de l’affaire Chlomovitch dont l’enjeu est une collection de centaines de toiles de maîtres (Renoir, Matisse, etc...). La dédicace n’en est que plus intéressante.
